| Susan Cohen - vocals | Always ready for a song, this native New Yorker started off with popular music, folk songs, ensembles, choruses & light opera. Susan migrated toward jazz before heading south. She has the good fortune to have played with many triangle musicians through the past 25 plus years, including Brother Yuseff & Bus Brown. Susan was the lead soprano in "String of Pearls", a local jazz vocal group, including Ed & Laura Paolantonio & their original tunes & lyrics, as well as their arrangements & lyrics to many jazz standards. She is thrilled to be singing with Sawyer-Goldberg, her first regular gig in many years, & a great, fun group of people to continue with along the exciting journey discovering the beauty of music & of jazz | |
| Roger Cook - electric & acoustic bass | As a refugee guitar player, Roger Cook discovered the bass in 1995 and has never looked back. He has performed as a bassist for the Durham rhythm and blues outfit STUFF IN THE POT, and accompanied several solo artists. He joined Sawyer-Goldberg in 2002. | |
| Pete Goldberg - guitar | Early on, Pete Goldberg found himself interested in the chordal possibilities of the guitar. Having played numerous styles of music over the years, Pete was eventually drawn to the rich harmonic possibilities offered by the Jazz idiom. To this day, he still prefers applying his fascination with harmony as an accompanist rather than a soloist. One of the first musical connections Pete made when he relocated to the triangle in 1980, was with Lou Sawyer. This musical partnership has endured in a variety of forms for over 25 years. | |
| Lou Sawyer - alto, tenor & soprano sax | Lou Sawyer, somewhere in another galaxy, tuned in to a jazz radio station broadcasting from New York City, circa 1945. In that moment he decided to be born on Earth, primarily for the purpose of playing saxophone. Subsequently he has played in numerous ensembles and venues with fellow aliens and a few friendly Earthlings. He plays to translate the languages of other worlds into jazz...and because music is his raison d'etre. | |

Joining Sawyer-Goldberg in 1999, David has immensely enjoyed the rhythmic interplay and melodic inventiveness of this group. |
